Refreshments and a catered lunch is provided for all participants. What do volunteers do? The volunteers participate in a training session prior to the event where they will obtain their classroom materials and teacher assignments. On the day of the event, volunteers conduct the lessons in their assigned classrooms. What is the role of the classroom teacher/ JA staff? During the event, teachers are present in the classroom at all times to help maintain classroom management and discipline and to answer any of the volunteer’s questions. JA staff plans and coordinates the day and is at the school to help as needed. What is the time commitment? The day of the program runs, on average, 5 hours.
