5. Qualifying Work Experience
Applicants should meet the acceptable professional work experience requirement of 4,000 hours, completed in a minimum of 36 months. This requirement can be completed before, during, or after participation in the CFA Program.
When providing work experience details, applications are required to:
- Enter the average number of hours they work per week;
- Enter the percentage of time they spend performing work that meets the work experience requirement;
- At least 50% of the time should be spent directly involved in the investment decision-making process
- Indicate how job duties produce work products that add value.
Examples of acceptable and qualifying work experience may refer to:
- Evaluating or applying financial, economic, and/or statistical data as part of the investment decision-making process
- Supervising persons who conduct such activities; or
- Teaching such activities.
